The City of Northport is located in West Alabama on the Black Warrior River, approximately 60 miles southwest of Birmingham. Northport's 19,610 inhabitants (2000) represent 12% of Tuscaloosa County's 164,875 population.

Holly Jolly Markets are held at the Northport Civic Center. Completed in 1985, the Northport Civic Center is the only convention style facility of its type in Tuscaloosa County. Located in city hall, the structure sits at the busy intersection of U.S. Highway 82 and U.S. Highway 43. Numerous conventions and community meetings are held in this facility year-round.
